Christmas Eve Meditation

Posted by Church on December 24, 2010

<knock, knock, knock>

“Greetings, I am Joseph, son of Jacob, son of Matthan, son of Eleazar, of Zerubbabel, Josiah, and David.  We have come to stay and register for the census.”

“Greetings, my brother, and son of David.  You are welcome here, but we have no more space in our guest room.  You may stay with our family.”

“My wife is pregnant and her days are full to give birth to her firstborn.”

“No problem son, we have many women here to assist her on this special occasion.”

Later
“The baby is born!  Hallelujah!  Where can we place him such that he will not suffer harm in this crowded house during the night?”

“Look!  The manger is the perfect size and height – fill it with straw and lay him there.”

And then, on a distant hillside, a group of dirty, cold, hard-working shepherds attended the choir performance of a lifetime.
